After 50 years of communism when the so-called 'human rights' were more or less observed, sometimes not necessarily according to the law, but due to a decent degree of humanity and understanding in us, now we got back to the 'master and servant' era when the baron has the right to do anything he wants with his slaves.
I pray to see each other healthy when the sun has depleted its summer warmth and lifeless leafs will quietly start falling on the ground.

Sellout of Endesa in exchange of enticing Germany with Russian Gas: “Pathetic”, “absolute nonsense” or foresight?

Gazprom’s boost on the German market (see E.ON deals and the Northern European Gas pipeline), in exchange of E.ON’s takeover of 51% of Spanish energy company Endesa (exception making Endesa’s nuclear energy assets.
Endesa was previously scheduled being integrated in the Spanish state energy network through Gas Natural’s buying offer.
I’m not so good at economy and probably it’s not only economy involved here, but geopolitics as well.
Putin strives to conclude gas deals with Germany BEFORE opening the Iranian gas market (to the US) for Europe.
On the other hand, thing that I am not trained for, is the economic part of the problem: Putin’s dream to challenge the US’ energy companies (mainly Exxon, but also GE, Chevron and Conoco) with Gazprom.
In order to challenge these companies Putin has to have a profit in the first place for Gazprom, which he can get by selling natural resources, mainly gas, because he probably dropped the idea that he could ever monopolize the World oil market.
Since Putin came to power in 2000 he fought to arrest Khodorkovsky, then to ordinate the oil and gas pipelines in Central Asia.
The territorial poker named ‘Caspian oil vs. Latin America’ is near to its end, meanwhile Putin starting to work at the fourth big project in his presidential career: challenging the US’ energy companies.
Where Putin intends to go with that, I don’t know for sure.
Putin offers Russian gas mainly to Europe, which, unlike the US and even China, is at least his main economic and political favourite.
By enticing everybody with Russian gas, Putin practically will achieve wasting Russia’s energy reserves. The compromise, however, should have a long term goal.
If he succeeds to grab the World gas monopoly, then theoretically he should be able to establish at his own will the price of gas and also the sales conditions.
If everything works as planned, probably from that moment he will have the legal power to sell the amount of gas that he wants, to whoever he likes.
A consistent rise in the price of gas would be an achievement either way and would automatically lead to a natural regulation of consume.

QUOTES:
“I find the Gazprom supply debate completely exaggerated and over-blown. It is, to be frank, absolute nonsense.”
He said the tide of national protectionism in the energy sector — reflected by Spain’s reluctance to let E.On buy Endesa, the country’s largest electricity generator — went against Europe’s long-term energy interests.

However, Mr Bernotat was dismissive of suggestions that E.ON's complete takeover of Endesa could be waved through
if the latter's portfolio of nuclear energy assets was not included.
The report says the E.ON boss described such a scenario as "pathetic".

I was thinking to post when I'm ready, but the time gets shrinking with each day, so I better post something than nothing.
I have very little time to read, let alone to try to analyse and very little economic knowledge.
Putin seems keen to challenge the US' companies: Microsoft and Exxon are now in his views.
Microsoft seems surrounded by scandals, while Morales helps Putin on his gas supremacy dream scheduled being accomplished by Gazprom.
