Vladimir Putin has made himself conspicuous as an unusual figure on the Russian political stage.

Mixing the strict views earned during his KGB career with the life experience gained in Germany, he has become probably the most complex and open-minded political leader of the contemporary history.

Modern and crafty, he succeeded to keep up with the new “terrorist” political trend proposed by the US in the late ‘70-s, updating it with new diplomatic techniques.

A convinced pacifist and a skilled diplomat endowed with a high degree of forbearance and malleability and with a remarkable memory, he is now perceived as the most enigmatic active player on the World stage.

Playing the immense pack of Russia’s energy cards to his chest alone and displaying a strange disposal for negotiations with Russia’s eternal rival: the United States, he tries to reshape the World according to its current energy needs, seeking to avoid a major military confrontation and at the same time fighting for a leading position for Russia in the World hierarchy.

Being a meditative introverted person and hence a bad orator, he rarely expresses willingly his thoughts in public.

Sensitive and fearful when it comes to brave out his rivals face to face, he prefers to play a deceitful game of words meant to daze the interlocutor.
He never says never, quietly accepting even the verbal humiliation, in order to leave room for nodding terms.

Aware, knowing his place and sometimes displaying a too modest position for Russia and for himself alike, the plans for the country he has dedicated his whole life to (as he stated himself) are far from modest.

Relying on Russia’s key asset: its natural resources, he dreams to use in Russia’s advantage the opening to the Western World the end of the USSR era has facilitated and to create a historically unprecedented reversal to the declared fall of an empire. __________________________________________________________
